Tea Break

It's Friday!!!! Which means even though we are at work... not much work gets done (fact). So why not make a cup of tea and indulge in a few fashiony/fun reads before the weekend. Doreen in accounts can wait...

1.) Need inspiration to wear vinyl? It is one of the trends du jour so get your fix here...

2.) Love Jackie O? Here's a very interesting  documentary on some of those iconic Jackie street style shots and the man who took them (and don't worry it's short and snappy so you will finish before your boss realises). In the wake of Harry-gate this is another interesting comment on the invasion of privacy by the press. That line between public and private life was very much blurred even before the age of Snapchat and Instagram. It clearly started well before Diana...

3.) As the weather gets a little more unbearable in London (and so I imagine for the rest of Europe) you definitely don't want to get sick for the weekend. Healthy food to the rescue! Here's a link of all the goodness you should be surrounding yourself with to avoid all those pesky cold and flu medications:

4.) I'm one of those people who peeps into windows when I'm riding on the bus. I can't help it. I love seeing how other people live, what they are doing, who they are with. So this exposé of nighttime photos of New Yorkers sheds a little light on those jobs we never see because we're tucked up in bed dreaming...

5.) In an age of copycat looks, movies and books its nice to see something a little bit offbeat. I stumbled on this trailer quite randomly but the style and macabre story line had me hooked. It's nice to see true creativity without commercial influence. It's called The Love Witch. Imagine Sebrina the Teenage Witch, Hitchcock and Lana del Rey all rolled into one...

6.) I love James Corden - that man will can get anyone on-side. Check out this latest clip of Kendall Jenner playing Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts with the Late Late Show TV host...

Who'se that Grace...

I recently read an article about Jamaican model of the moment Jenese Roper. The newbie, who was picked up by Saint Laurent, has been likened to the iconic Grace Jones (check her out below). In an interview Jenese said that she didn't know who the legendary signer/songwriter was. Bless. So I started flicking through some of Grace's incredible imagery - Jenese you've got a long way to go girl...

Sunsets

So I know its probably SO cliched but there is a reason sunrise and sunset are the most magical times of day - i.e. they are just the most epic, instagrammable moments. Turn away and you miss them. With the clocks having gone back quite recently in London I am missing ours. So here are a few to remind myself of the light. And I know we can't all have palm trees or cacti nearby but we can all dream...

GiGi

So unless you have been living under a very large and self-sustaining rock for a very long period of time, you will be aware of models-of-the-moment Gigi and Bella Hadid. It's time to admit that I have formed a love/hate relationship with them (not sure I can call it a relationship when they don't know about it?). I think they are such lucky girls to be so genetically blessed and living their young lives travelling the world, having these incredible experiences and just generally looking fabulous while doing it. In the same breath it does also make it glaringly obvious that the rest of us have to work that little bit harder to enjoy that kind of lifestyle. Now I'm not saying that's a bad thing (we can't all be supermodels) but it does make me think life is just a lot little unfair.

And yes you could say to me, "But its a short term life plan" and "It must get so lonely travelling so much," or my personal favourite, "She must get so bored of posing all the time."Ahhh yes the life of a model seems horrific. To be fair having worked with many a model I do know that people can be terribly mean to you, sometimes you don't actually get to open your mouth or have an opinion and being judged on your looks everyday is not my idea of a good day at work. I do think that as a 'short term plan' you could do a lot worse than earning shedloads of cash, travelling the world, meeting incredible people and basically getting an archive of all your experiences to boot. My deepest sympathies extend to all of the models out there HATING each day of their lives. Pooh, pooh this green eyed monster is alive and well!

So I will continue with my jealousy-induced stalking and share with you this fun video of Gigi. She looks like she's having an awful time of it...

A bit of inspo...

Round 'em up

I love a 'round up'. And we're not talking the Texan 'get that herd in the corral' kind. We're talking backstage / street style / the best of Paris / etc etc round up. Here's one from Vogue which J'adore. Could we talk about those YSL monogramed tights for a second?
