We have recently discovered a hidden gem just up the North Coast of KZN called Mundo Vida. Think crisp white table cloths, big wine glasses, flickering candles, the smell of the ocean and the warmth of the setting sun. Mundo Vida is literally 20 minutes outside of Durban (I know that’s far for Durbanites but trust me it’s worth it!), is full of fantastic food and a killer view right on the beach, ideal for that “home away from home” feeling where you just need to get away for a little bit. It’s next door to the famous Bel Punto, but not quite as yuppy or expensive. Definitely give it a chance when next you’re looking for something different or more upmarket. They serve a variety of contemporary food-from seafood to steak, pasta and pizza, there’s something for everyone. The service is outstanding, professional but un-obtrusive and you feel like you’ve been taken care of without even knowing it.
I recommend the rib eye steak, prawn and calamari combo as well as their chorizo and prawn pizza-outstanding!
Expect to pay about R150 per person so definitely don’t go mid-month when the budget is tight, but ideal for a long supper or lazy lunch with friends and family. The sound of the waves crashing and life buzzing past is intoxicating. –Definitely not worth missing!
